Each year, Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) and local McDonald's owner/operators choose worthy students to receive the Hispanic American Commitment to Educational Resources (HACER) scholarships. This years recipients are: Elizabeth Lemus from Ellison High, Erik Saucedo from Bruceville Eddy High, Jessica Lolley from McGregor High, Katy Porter from Evant High, and Chloe Tutor from Belton High.

The honorees, their parents, and counselors were invited to a luncheon at the Ronald McDonald House in May to celebrate their achievement.

HACER is the largest and oldest Hispanic high school to college scholarship program in the United States. Over the last 19 years, RMHC/HACER has granted more than 10 million in scholarships to over 10,000 students. Funding for the Central Texas HACER scholarships comes from the McDonald's owner/operators in the area and McDonald's Corporation. Local owner/operators include Carol and John Morin; Frankie and Hal Leverson; Mary and Jerry Hill; Marilyn and Jim Reily; and Trudy and Paul Rosado.
